ANDROPAUSE
Andropause in men can be classified as the male menopause which in men can happen when you reach the ages between 40 and 55. Same as in women, men experience a drop in hormone levels especially the levels of testosterone as we get older.
We may notice the changes that happen to us but those around us may, we may show the following changes within us without even knowing. Signs such as changes of attitude and mood, the feeling of the loss of energy and being fatigued and loss of sex drive are all signs of andropause in men.
With male menopause perhaps one of the first signs is the loss of sex drive as we get older which we experience in decreased libido and failure to awaken with an erection giving us the feeling of being impotent.
When men have low hormone levels of testosterone we tend to show a negative influence on both our mood and mental abilities, inclusive of decline of memory and the loss of our youthful sexual functioning.
Another sign of andropause is that a man may experience night sweats and palpitations that may occur because of an overactive autonomic system responding to our falling testosterone levels. This is called hypogonadism which is in part the clinical basis of andropause.
When you are seen by a physician they will check for signs that include loss of hair particularly in the armpit and genitalia areas. They may also recommend psychological tests to rule out depression and other mood and cognitive changes in you.
Luckily there are andropause treatments for those men who suffer from the symptoms of male menopause and they are as simple as replacing the missing testosterone by injection, application of hormone gel, use of a transdermal patch or by implanted cartridge.
The most complicating factor with andropause treatment is what do you consider a normal level of testosterone? No two men have the same testosterone levels and one may function optimally at blood levels of ½ to 1/3 of another.
When it comes to hormone replacement with testosterone it is most important to have the right blood levels as excessive blood levels are quite unpleasant and even dangerous affects.
The benefits that you will get from andropause treatment with testosterone therapy are quite rewarding. You should notice that your attitude will improve, which will reinforce your self esteem and self confidence making you successful at work, and being able to have an increase in energy at home and in social activities.
It can be expected for most men to feel changes and these effects will take from 3 to 6 weeks. The changes will be that you will feel more vigorous, you will experience improvements in your energy levels, mood, concentration, cognition, libido, your sexual performance and most of all your sense of well being.
Other benefits that include maintenance or improvement in your bone density, improved body composition, muscle mass and muscle strength as well as you will see improvement in your visual spatial skills.
The main thing to control andropause or male menopause is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. You can live a better life by having an optimal diet, regular exercise, having stress management and by reducing your intake of tobacco and alcohol.
